Bicycling diaries, 1892-1896, of Arthur Penrhyn Stanley Hyde. Daily entries provide detailed records of Hyde's cycling trips in the New York City area, including general descriptions of locations visited and detailed records of routes and mileage. Prefaces to individual volumes list weekly and monthly mileage records by year. Additionally illustrated with road maps of New York City and vicinity, clipped pictures depicting places visited, original sketches, printed bicycle advertisements, membership cards for the League of American Wheelmen, and news clippings pertaining to Hyde's activities as a famous "wheelman" of his day.

The League of American Wheelmen first began in New Port, R.I. in 1880 and was the governing body for bicycle racing at that time. The organization continues to survive as the League of American Bicyclists providing cycling education for adults and children.
